Kraft, La Pierre

Pulverize all spatial boundaries, this contemporary music wager usually clashes with traditional concert hall installations.

Kraft by Lindberg and the new work by Ivan Fedele, dissimilar from everything in the way they are presented in the concert hall, take over two spaces at the CENTQUATRE: the 400 and the Nef Curial.

The music for strings, percussions, orchestra, and electronics by Ivan Fedele creates a close and unique relationship between the captured gesture of the percussions and the string quartet that call upon each other: sculpting the sonorous space and intertwining the soloists, multiplication of real or virtual orchestral symmetries.

The telluric violence of Kraft, the youthful masterpiece that thrust Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg into the limelight of the contemporary scene, needs to be physically present around the audience. A sonorous massif, energetic and peremptory, Kraft calls upon an orchestra and seven soloists to manipulate a series of percussions collected at a scrap metal merchant. A musical action that the composer will assist at the piano.
